Development Path

1999

  • In September, Mr. WANG Wei and Mr. QIU Xiong founded Wiseway in Beijing, marking the beginning of a 27-year journey of success.

2000

  • In May, the first student, Zhang Xing, was successfully sent to study in the UK.
  • In October, Wiseway was granted a license by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China to provide study abroad services.

2001

  • At the beginning of 2001, the office was moved from Jingding Building to the FLTRP Building.
  • In summer, Wiseway Education successfully signed a contract with Leeds Metropolitan University (now Leeds Beckett University) as its first overseas partner institution.

2002

  • In January, Beijing Wiseway Training School was established, and Shane English School, a Sino-foreign joint training institution, was also set up in cooperation with Saxoncourt.
  • In the spring, Wiseway signed contracts with BELS (the University of Bristol, Exeter, Sheffield, and Leeds Met), and in April, we successfully held Wiseway 's first education exposition in Beijing.

2003

  • During the SARS period in May and June, when the number of students going abroad was at its peak, Wiseway employees overcame the difficulties and worked hard to send students abroad on time.

2005

  • Wiseway received an award for the first time in December, and was awarded the “Best Service Provider for Brand Intermediary” by the first Media Trust Education Brand Evaluation for study abroad service industry by Sina.

2007

  • The first Wiseway branch, the Shanghai Branch, was established in May, and by the end of the year, six branches had been set up across the country.
  • In 2007, EWIE signed an agreement with Beijing Foreign Studies University to undertake the International Foundation Certificate (IFC) program.
  • In 2007, EWIE expanded from a UK only study abroad business provider to cover other countries, including the US, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, and Australia.

2008

  • The Institute for East & West International Education was formally established, and the company expanded into multiple business areas in the field of international education.
  • In April, the office of the Beijing headquarters moved from the FLTRP Building to Hesheng Building in Zhongguancun.

2009

  • In 2009, the first class of IFC (International Foundation Certificate) students from the Institute for East & West International Education successfully graduated.
  • EWIE was ranked third among the top 10 international foundation courses in China in the 60 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China.

2010

  • In 2010, Lingyou invested in EWIE, starting EWIE’s journey to the capital market.
  • The EWIE IFC Program has been certified and recognized by more than 60 prestigious overseas universities in the UK, the US, Australia, Canada, and Ireland.
  • In October 2010, EWIE’s international branch was set up in Hong Kong.

2011

  • In June 2011, the first class of IPMP (International Pre-Master Program ) students from the Institute for East & West International Education graduated successfully.

2012

  • In November, the American International Recruitment Council (AIRC) officially announced that Mr. WANG Wei, President of EWIE Group, was elected as a member on the board of directors of AIRC. Mr. Wang
    served AIRC for 3 years.

2013

  • In April, the East & West Training School opened to provide comprehensive language training for students who plan to study abroad.

2014

  • In May, EWIE set up its first independent A-Level course and examination center at Sichuan International Studies University.

2015

  • On August, IEC was established in Vermont, USA jointly by EWIE and six top liberal arts colleges, and was registered as a non-for-profit organization.

2016

  • EWIE collaborated with a prestigious domestic university to launch the IYO (International Year One) program.
  • In November, Beijing Fuhua Zhongxing International Education Consulting Co., Ltd. was established, and the group officially started its business of helping students to do internships in China and helping expatriates to find
    teaching jobs in China.
  • EWIE acquired 51% of the shares of China Travel Group Exit and Entry Co., Ltd. and became its controlling shareholder; it also acquired Qingdao Overseas Personnel Service Co., Ltd.
  • EWIE was successfully listed on the New Third Board, becoming the first international education stock on the New Third Board! (Securities abbreviation: East & West, code: 837491)

2017

  • The company was selected into the list of recommended institutions for overseas study service by the Ministry of Education, and the company's chairman, Mr. WANG Wei, was invited to be a member of the expert group of the National Association of Overseas Study Service Industry.
  • Wiseway was respectively named the “Most Influential Service Brand”, the “Popular Chinese Brand of Study Abroad Institutions”, and the second session of “Smart IN China” for influential study abroad service brands.

2018

  • EWIE Top UK Program “BriTour” was launched with more than 60 British universities for an exhibition tour in 6 cities in China.

2019

  • The “China-Thailand Higher Education Cooperation Alliance” was launched.
  • The “Cooperation Platform for High School International Projects” was established, with a study report named “The Development of High School International Programs (2019)” released.

2020

  • In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, EWIE took the initiative in organizing the "Online Forum on the Reform of Educational Methods in High Schools and the Development of High School Internationalization in the New Era", which received widespread support and active participation from the education community.
  • In light of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, EWIE conducted a dedicated survey on student development in Sino-foreign cooperative schools (online), resulting in the publication of the "Report on Student Development in Sino-foreign Cooperative Schools".
  • EWIE initiated and co-founded the "China-Thailand Higher Education Cooperation Alliance" (ACTU) and assumed the role of Secretariat Unit of the Alliance.

2021

New “Global Competence Development”(GCD)was launched and joined by more than 150 domestic universities in China.

2022

  • EWIE relocated its office to the Hainan Free Trade Zone in China, and the company was renamed “Hainan East & West Education Technology Co., Ltd.”(the stock code remains unchanged).
  • On March 16, 2022, the unveiling ceremony of the Chinese University in Egypt Beijing Representative Office was held at the Institute for East & West International Education.

2023

  • EWIE established its “International Curriculum Center”.
  • In November, EWIE established a strategic partnership with Kasetsart University, a leading public university in Thailand, and jointly founded the “China-Thailand International Education Center of Kasetsart University” to collaborate on international education projects and create opportunities for Chinese students to study in Thailand.
  • In December, EWIE Training School was awarded the honorary title of “AAA” social organization by the Beijing Haidian District Civil Affairs Bureau.

2024

  • In 2024, EWIE partnered exclusively with the Association of British Chinese Professors (ABCP) in the UK to guide and support domestic universities and students in applying for doctoral degrees at prestigious overseas universities, fostering new models for international cooperation.
  • In September 2024, the “Scholars Hub” platform was launched in London, UK, to help Chinese students connect with doctoral supervisors and streamline the doctoral application process.

 

2025

  • At the Annual Conference of the College Graduates Employment Association and the 2nd National College Students Employment and Entrepreneurship Expo, East-West International Education Group officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the College Graduates Employment Association.
  • At the 2024 Education Gala hosted by Sina & Weibo, the Group was honored with the "2024 Annual International Education Leadership Brand Award."
  • At the inaugural first council meeting of the International Exchange and Cooperation Professional Committee of the China Private Education Association, the Group was appointed as a "Vice Chairman Unit."
